3 Types of Developmentally-Based Occupational Therapy Assessments:

Type A

  • 1-hour session billed directly to insurance company
  • Select standardized assessments may be used but session will largely include structured clinical observations
  • 1-2 page write-up will be completed after session with summary of initial impressions – Families may have a copy of this at their request
  • May begin therapy immediately after initial test session is completed
  • Use of additional standardized tests may be used during course of treatment and billed through insurance to collect additional information as needed

Type B ($600)

  • Includes 2 hours of testing which may be done consecutively or over 2 sessions
  • Testing will include a combination of standardized assessments and extensive clinical observations.
  • Includes 20 minutes of parent consultation to review test results and recommendations.
  • Includes 5+ page evaluation write-up documenting test scores, interpretation of findings, and recommendations.

Type C ($1200)

  • Includes 3.5-4 hours of testing which will be done over 2 sessions
  • Testing will include use of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT). The SIPT consists of 17 subtests that evaluate sensory processing deficits related to learning, behavior, and motor difficulties. The SIPT measures visual, tactile, and kinesthetic perception as well as motor planning. Results from this test delineate specific types of processing challenges which may be contributing to difficulties in daily life. In addition to the SIPT, structured clinical observations will be performed as well.
  • Includes 20 minutes of parent consultation to review test results and recommendations.
  • Includes 5+ page evaluation write-up documenting SIPT scores, interpretations of findings, and recommendations.
