Aquatic therapy is a modality that can aid in achieving optimal quality of life in children of all ages with conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Spina Bifida

  • Down Syndrome

  • Muscular Dystrophy

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Sensory Processing Disorder

  • Orthopedic or neurological conditions

  • Developmental delays

BENEFITS OF AQUATIC THERAPY
  • Strength (core and limbs), coordination, balance, flexibility, and endurance

  • Achievement of developmental milestones (e.g. rolling, reaching).

  • Respiration and breath control

  • Sensory processing and integration, including tolerance to water/bathing/grooming

  • Self-regulation, including safety and body-in-space awareness

  • And more!

AQUATIC THERAPY VS. ADAPTIVE SWIM
  • Aquatic therapy is a form of habilitation or rehabilitation that involves clinical judgement of a licensed provider to determine interventions and an appropriate plan of care

  • Adaptive swim involves teaching those with disability HOW to swim

  • Sometimes, these two practices can overlap! It depends on your child’s goals and needs!
