At the Boston Ability Center, we strive to cultivate a community in which children are valued exactly as they are by maximizing their unique abilities. We are experts in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy who are committed to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for children and their families. We believe that play is powerful, and fun and function go hand-in-hand. We believe in equipping & empowering parents to competently & confidently raise their children. We are grateful to be a part of every child’s village.

The special programs and events offered at the Boston Ability Center are more than just activities; we're building a community full of opportunities for growth, connection, and support. Whether it’s through physical fitness, creative play, or by simply being together, our hope is that each of our unique offerings enables children and families to thrive.

At Video Game Night, neurodivergent tweens & teens (ages 9-17) come together for a night of games on the Nintendo Switch and Wii. Games and controllers are provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own games and personal devices as well.

We've also hosted live-action role-playing (also known as LARPing) events, such as our recent action-packed quest "Hook's Revenge" that brought the epic adventures of Peter Pan to life! Brave heroes in grades 4-12 soared through the skies on our zipline, engaged in foam sword battles, completed escape room puzzles, and interacted with costumed characters.

The goal of these tween and teen community events is to promote positive self-image and emotional wellbeing for neurodivergent young people through creating a welcoming community of their peers. These events are non-therapeutic, meaning the focus is on having fun and not necessarily on building skills. We believe it's important for all people of all abilities to have a safe, supportive space where they are free to just be.

Siblings of children with support needs often face unique challenges. Sibshops is a nationally acclaimed program designed specifically for these siblings, providing a space for them to connect, share their experiences, and have fun together. Our hope is that all family members feel supported, empowered, and valued.

The Boston Ability Center is proud to donate monthly event space to One Night Out, a volunteer-run non-profit organization providing FREE childcare services to children with support needs and their siblings so that parents and caregivers can enjoy a night OFF! One Night Out allows kids to have a fun evening of games, activities, and crafts while parents take a much-deserved break, knowing their children are well cared for in a safe and supportive environment. It’s a win-win!

Our Fit Kids Fitness Group offers children ages 9-16 of all abilities the opportunity to improve their strength, endurance, coordination, and more in a positive, structured environment. These fitness classes help promote healthy habits and empower kids to learn about & take care of their bodies while boosting their self-esteem. It's an excellent way to encourage physical development and teamwork in a supportive, fun setting.

Join us for a fun and educational morning designed for children ages one to three of all abilities! Parents, grandparents, caregivers, and even infant siblings are welcome to join this playgroup alongside their little ones. Each session is facilitated by an occupational therapist and speech-language pathologist, offering a flexible structure that caters to the needs of all participants while encouraging exploration, sensory experiences, early language development, and play.

A session of Tots & SpOTs typically includes a welcome circle, a themed story, a simple craft activity, and plenty of time for free play in our state-of-the-art sensorimotor gym. The event will feature a variety of toys and equipment such as swings, balance beams, a trampoline, a ball pit, zip line, and more! Connect with other parents in the Metrowest area, gain valuable insights from expert clinicians to support your child’s development, and enjoy a supportive, accessible environment where your child can interact with peers, develop new skills, and have a great time.

The BAC is grateful to partner with Boston Sports Institute to offer our unique aquatic therapy program! The buoyancy of the water supports the body, making it easier for children to move and perform exercises that might be challenging on land. Aquatic physical and occupational therapy sessions promote strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance (among many other skills!) all while providing a fun, sensory-rich experience that boosts confidence and engagement.

At the Boston Ability Center, we recognize the importance of celebrating milestones and making memories! Our customizable Birthday Party experience ensures that children of all ages & abilites can have a special day filled with family, friends, and fun. Staffed by BAC clinicians, we provide the set-up and clean-up while party guests are free to enjoy 1.5 hours of free play in our gym spaces. You'll have access to our zipline, ballpit, swings, and more!

We hope that you'll take some time to explore our website and learn all about our different offerings. If you have questions about any of our current special programs and event, please don't hesitate to contact us!
